London Oxford Airport has broken ground on its new AerOx science and R&D technology park, with the first of five buildings (constituting phase one of development) to be available from late summer 2025. Four further phases of construction, encompassing incrementally larger areas, are also planned to follow.
‘The zone north of Oxford city up to the airport is now rapidly evolving as a significant new science and research hub with numerous fresh developments away and billions in inward investment,’ explained the airport on social media.
Accordingly, real estate specialists Savills – the company responsible for co-ordinating interest in the development – added that ‘the site’s prominent position at the gateway of Oxford Airport makes Aerox the ideal location for occupiers looking to benefit from the area’s connectivity, highly skilled talent pool forming part of the wider Northern Cluster of established R&D, Technology and Advanced Engineering businesses.’
The initial wave of units (ranging from 7,500 to 50,000 square feet) will be available from the middle of next year. These include Grade A open-plan first-floor offices with raised access floors, and other spaces with rolling shutter loading doors and a clear working height of nearly 5m. Sustainability initiatives also feature prominently at the heart of the development, with all buildings boasting ‘best in class’ sustainability credentials, 25% electric vehicle charging spaces and photovoltaic roof panels on all units.
‘Those basing themselves here at London Oxford Airport might well join the 12,000+ business passengers we see linking directly with over 330 international destinations each year, a mere five minutes’ walk from their aircraft,’ concluded the airport.
